Mary and Tiff did 1 1/2 hours!
Okay I was going to drive all the way to Cedar this morning to get in an "elevation" run but decided to stay home in Mesquite and run with Mary and we did awesome! 1 1/2 hours!! We felt great. Gonna have to go pace it in the car but I'm sure it was more than 8 miles. Mean hills in there! I took Mary on the very meanest Hill that Mesquite has, and it kicked us both but we did it. I wish the race was next week, I feel ready right now and I really want a Pepsi!!! Hope everyone is doing great! Tiff

How are we doing?
'sup Wunnahs??? I've had a crummy week of running. I did great on Monday and ok on Tuesday, but I haven't ran since then. I missed my run yesterday cuz I was just beat from the heat and yardwork. I don't run on Fridays cuz I bust out a rough one every Saturday. So tomorrow, I'm gonna run a 5K to see how I'm coming along on my marathon pace and then I'll run 10 miles after that. It's gonna be rough cuz I've been snacking a little more than I should. I almost ate whole batch of Brenna's brownies two nights ago!
If we don't get any more volunteers for this, we're gonna have to pay Ragnar to hire people. I'm not sure what the cost is, but it's in the Race Bible and it's more than what I want to spend. So do everything ya can to talk somebody into volunteering.

5 weeks from today...
we'll be running! I hope everybody is excited about this and not scared. I've been a little over-motivational on purpose on this blog in hopes that it would help us train harder. I've done this so that when it's time to run we can enjoy ourselves better cuz we're conditioned. Plus, I don't wanna have to smell vomit in the car cuz somebody over did it. :(
If you don't feel like you're where you need to be yet, you've still got a solid month of training(remember the week of Ragnar doesn't help much). I know I'm not where I need to be because two of my runs are uphill and over 7.5 miles. I went and ran on the treadmill yesterday and set the incline to what it'll be for those two runs and it rocked me! So on my weekday runs I'm gonna focus on strengthening my uphill muscles and on Saturdays I'll focus on endurance. We all have different strengths and weaknesses in running(form, speed, uphill or downhill conditioning, diet). Decide what your weaknesses are and focus on those for the next month so you'll enjoy the Wasatch Back.

SENECA!!!!
I wanted everyone to know that Seneca emailed me today to inform me that she hasn't been running. "I've been too busy." So I wanted to publicly motivate her by letting everyone know. HAHA!! I hope you are laughing too Seneca. Let's keep in mind that it's easy to say we are too busy but really we all have time. We may have to sacrifice a few other things in our day so that we can find that hour to run. It's all worth it in the end.
Starting time...FINALLY!!!
If you didn't see this in your e-mail already, we're officially starting at 7:50 am. I think our average time is 9:00 mile. So you can look at the race bible and gauge when you think you will be running give or take an hour or two.
I just got done running 6 miles in 70 degree weather, but it felt like 90 cuz I'm used to running in 55 degree weather. Try to run in the heat to get used to it. I know you southerners don't have that issue.

St. George Marathon!!!
The lottery for the St. George Marathon was announced today and Brady and I got in!! Brady's going to work on qualifying for the Boston Marathon(which he will probably do) and I will work on trying to survive the whole 26.2 miles(Which I probably won't do).
To qualify for the Boston Marathon for a male age 30-34 you have to run the St. George marathon in 3:10! Good Luck Brady! Did Tiff or Seneca enter and get in this year?

Goin' Running...again!
I got up at 5:30 am and ran 6 1/2 miles this morning. I had to get back home before I could finish my 13 miles today. I had a bunch of family in town today and we hung out with them after that. So, I'm gettin' ready to put my stuff on and go run 6 1/2 more miles! Should be fun in the dark with the headlamp! I would definitely recommend that we all start running twice or three times in a 24-hour period once every week or two to get used to what Ragnar will be like. My right arch is aching from this morning's run, but I got to reach my goal of 13 miles today and I need to get used to running at weird times of the day and night and especially while being exhausted.
I hope everybody is getting excited about Ragnar and not dreading it. There is still time for major training and improvement, but you gotta get rollin'!
Still waiting to hear our starting time. :(

Volunteers can now register!
As of 9am today, volunteers can sign up. It's important to do it asap because the good normal hour slots are filling up. My brother Andy has volunteered to do a shift in Logan. We need two more volunteers which do about five hour shifts. They do get a T-shirt out of it. Yay. I added the volunteer link to the running links. IMPORTANT: make sure the volunteer signs up under team #535 Wagnoh Welay Wunnahs where it asks if they are volunteering for a team.
Tiff, in response to your question a couple of days ago, a driver doesn't count as a volunteer. The shifts are 4-5 hrs. long. Do we know what size or type of vehicle Van 1 is driving yet? Anybody want to offer their vehicle? My dad has a Durango and we have an Odyssey. We've never had a driver before because the van was already packed with the 6 runneres, food, water, and their gear. If we don't get a big enough vehicle we will be extra crammed in if we have an extra person driving. So we need to determine if we can fit a seventh person in depending on size of the vehicle.
TIME IS COUNTING DOWN! Five weeks of training left! We are still waiting to hear what our starting time is. Any discussion on changing legs?

Ragnar Shakes Things Up!!! Please read carefully.
I hope everybody saw the e-mail from Ragnar today because Legs 16-31 were GREATLY affected by the changes. Here's the way I see each person's legs in Van 1 being affected:
Tyson: a little Easier (18.5 miles total)
Brenna: Easier (13 miles total)
Steve: Harder (18.4 miles total)
Mary: About the same (13.1 miles)
Kip: Easier (13.6 miles)
Tiff: Harder (17.8 miles)
Take a look at your legs and see if you feel like switching with somebody. Brenna and I thought about switching legs with Steve who would become runner #2, I would be #3, and Brenna would take #5. If I stick with #5 however, my last leg is now only 2.6 miles which could be a good thing because if somebody is not feeling well for their last leg I could probably run it for them(I need to clarify that with the Race Bible though). Please throw out any suggestions.
We're still waiting to hear about our starting time. And, we need some volunteers to work a shift at one of the Exchanges! I was gonna talk to my younger brother about helping out. I believe we need 3 volunteers or else we have to pay money for Ragnar to hire people to work at the exchanges. They get a free Ragnar shirt just like the ones we will get. Please let me know if you can find a volunteer because we need to register them on the Ragnar site.
Also, I set it up for those of you whose e-mail I have to receive a notification any time a post is made on the blog. Please send me your e-mail if you want that notification and I'll include it.
Also, I just saw that I could give everybody administrative privileges on the blog so I did. So you can change or add anything you want now. Hoo Hah!
Have a good Saturday run!
