Preventing and dealing with injury/soreness...

Wunnohs,
I've talked with some of you about running injuries a little bit. I found this artictle which I'll add to the running links(titled "shoe type" and "injury") which might help.

I went to the running store(Wasatch Running Center) yesterday because my arches have been aching since my 18-miler last Saturday. I've never experienced that pain before. My shoes are almost a year old and the guy at the store recommended I buy the new model of the shoe I run in(Asics-Gel Cumulus). Brady will verify this as well, but almost every runner has at least two pair of shoes that he/she alternates between. I've only been using one pair for the last year. Anyways, I ran in my new pair yesterday and noticed a tremendous difference in my arches, the tendons along the back of my knees, and my left hip which are my problem areas.

As we are all increasing our mileage, we're gonna feel new boo-boos. Alot of it can be caused by A)Bad Shoes or the WRONG kind(read the injury article), B)too much increase in mileage too fast, and C) Not enough recovery time or nutrition( Protein, Vitamin C, Amino Acids).

Hope this helps somebody if you're struggling in any of these areas.

p.s. I HIGHLY recommend going to a good running store and getting fitted for the right type of shoe. You'll know what I mean after reading the article(difference between Floppy foot, Rigid Foot, or Neutral).

Kip
